‘In Transition 1.0′ the Movie

‘In Transition 1.0′ (click here on the name of the film to be taken to the movie)

The transition movement is about making communities more resilient in uncertain times. Founded by Rob Hopkins, it has grown from its humble beginnings in a classroom in 2004 to a global network of self-organising initiatives involving many thousands of people in cities, islands, villages and towns in the UK, Europe, Americas, NZ and Australia.

'In Transition 1.0' was released in 2009. Whilst is is largely UK based, it provides a unique insight into the movement that has so much to offer in a changing world. The beginning of the film is a little slow and it can be a bit sentimental at times, but overall it is an inspiring film which shows us how people and communities can lead the way in defining the future for our cities and towns.

NB: 'In Transition 2.0' has just been released in the UK and is receiving great reviews!

How your vote counts cartoon

It's not uncommon for voters to be confused by the many voting systems that operate between federal and state elections.  The cartoon below shows how your vote counts in the context of the optional preferential system used in Queensland.  Feel free to share it with family and friends.  The more people that understand how their vote will count the better!
